چکیده

ABSTRACT We present results from neutral atomic hydrogen (H i) observations of Hydra I, the first cluster observed by Widefield ASKAP L-band Legacy All-sky Blind Survey (WALLABY) on Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder. For time, we show that WALLABY can reach its final survey sensitivity. Leveraging sensitivity, spatial resolution, and wide field view WALLABY, identify a galaxy, ESO 501−G075, lies near virial radius I displays an H i tail. 501−G075 shows similar level morphological asymmetry as another member, which centre signs experiencing ram pressure. investigate possible environmental processes could be responsible for producing disturbance in morphology 501−G075. rule out tidal interactions, has no nearby neighbours within ∼0.34 Mpc. use simple model to determine pressure remove gas disc at radii r ≳ 25 kpc. conclude that, typical mass compared galaxies is compatible with scenario, likely recently infalling into early stages

Metal Enrichment of the Intra-cluster Medium: Ram-pressure Stripping of Cluster Galaxies

We present numerical simulations of the dynamical and chemical evolution of galaxy clusters. X-ray spectra show that the intra-cluster medium contains a significant amount of metals. As heavy elements are produced in the stars of galaxies material from the galaxies must have been expelled to enrich the ambient medium. We have performed hydrodynamic simulations investigating various processes. I...

Ram Pressure Stripping in Clusters and Groups

Ram pressure stripping is an important process in the evolution of both dwarf galaxies and large spirals. Large spirals are severely stripped in rich clusters and may be mildly stripped in groups. Dwarf galaxies can be severely stripped in both clusters and groups. A model is developed that describes the stripping of a satellite galaxy’s outer H i disk and hot galactic halo. The model can be ap...

Ram pressure stripping of the cool core of the Ophiuchus Cluster

We report results from a Chandra study of the central regions of the nearby, X-ray bright, Ophiuchus Cluster (z = 0.03), the second-brightest cluster in the sky. Our study reveals a dramatic, close-up view of the sloshing, stripping and potential destruction of a cool core within a rich cluster. The X-ray emission from the Ophiuchus Cluster core exhibits a comet-like morphology extending to the...

Ram pressure stripping of the multiphase ISM in the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4438

Ram pressure stripping of the multiphase ISM is studied in the perturbed Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4438. This galaxy underwent a tidal interaction ∼ 100 Myr ago and is now strongly affected by ram pressure stripping. Deep VLA radio continuum observations at 6 and 20 cm are presented. We detect prominent extraplanar emission to the west of the galactic center, which extends twice as far as...

The consequences of ram pressure stripping on the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4522

New Hα Fabry-Perot interferometer observations of the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4522 are presented. A velocity field up to a radius of 60 was obtained. The observed rotation curve is symmetric. It is not perturbed in the inner disk. For radii > 50 it shows a solid body rotation. We compare these data with a numerical model which includes the effects of ram pressure stripping. The model ca...
